Terrifying, Thrilling, Amazing Adventure!!! March 14-16

This trip was something I never thought I would be able to do... For my Outdoor education class we had to go to a place called Meebunn-Bia. It was a lot of hiking with packs on our back as big as us, as you can see in the pictures below. The first day we got there at about 10 am and started playing some warm up games that were pretty cheesy, but fun. After a couple of games the first hike began. It took about 2 hours to get to our first campsite. Once we got there we had some lunch then had to pitch our tents... well these weren't real tents... some poles with a tarp above it. NO DOORS!! so of course I was freaking out that there would be bug and snakes and wild animals coming in throughout the night... not happy about that! Then we went to the ropes course which was awesome.
The ropes course had 4 things you could do. An easy, medium, and difficult level. Then a zip line. I did the easy and medium level of the high ropes courses and then the zip line. Didnt make it to the difficult level... it started to rain and my hands and feet were killing me by this point. And the medium level was already really difficult! I was happy with the accomplishment :) The zip line was awesome. Had to climb up this tiny later then stand on a tiny little piece of wood until the instructor connected you to the wire. Then jumped off and zipped all the way down. It was really fun.
Then we went back to the campsite and had to make supper. It was dark out and we only had these small pans to cook in (as shown below). The first night we made alfredo with tuna in it and it actually turned out really good! Then we all sat around the campfire and played games! The games were really fun! and everyone got really into them! then it was the scary part... going to bed... During the games we saw like 10 possums come up right next to us so i thought for sure they would come into our tents (which as happened in the past!) Well the first night I slept okay.. probably got like 4 hours. They woke us up at about 7 which was fine with me because I was already up!
The second day we had our navigation hike. We were in groups of 4 and had to find our way to 15 different spots throughout the forest, bush, and by rivers! we were given a map, a radio, and a compass. When we got to the right spots there would be cans with numbers on them so we could figure out where we were! My group did awesome until we got to can number 10... Trying to find can 11 was HE** haha we got super lost and to radio into our instructor... turns our we werent way to far off but there is no way we would have found it on our own... someone had to come get us.. haha
All the navigation hike took 3 hours, have many scrapes and bruises on my legs. It was very difficult but saw awesome scenery! and it was cool to learn how to use a compass and a map! When we got back we got to make lunch, which was ANOTHER pb and j.. then we had to pack  up and head to the next campsite! This part was probably the hardest thing I have ever done... We had our huge packs on and had to go down the mountain we were on then back up another which was 10 times steeper than the first one! Thank god it was drizzling rain because we were all sweating like crazy!!
Once we got to the campsite it was almost sunrise, the instructor told us to drop our packs and walk up this pretty big hill right by us... I almost died. haha once we got up the hill it was completely worth it!!!! The most amazing view I think you can get!! I know the pictures below just seem like another sunset but I swear this is 10 times better than you are thinking!! AMAZING!!
Then we went back to the campsite.. made supper, grilled cheese and tomato soup this time. Played some camp fire games then went to bed. This night a possum was pretty much in our tent... One of the girls in my tent tried to use her bag as like a door so a possum wouldn't come in... well she awoke to it going through her bag and eating her trail mix! It of course woke us all up! soooo scary!
The next day we got to do a partner high ropes course. You are connected to a friend by a like 5 foot rope and try to get to a bell to ring it. We made it! It was really difficult! took us 20 minutes and 38 seconds! We were proud! Had to use a lot of arm strength! (yes I know carolyn I dont have much!) haha
Then we did a this free fall drop. Where you climb up this really skinny latter which was really hard to do! then again stood on this tiny little log waiting until the instructor had you ready to jump. Looking down was terrifying and it was really windy so it just felt like you were going to get pulled off before your instructor had you clipped on right. Then when she was ready I jumped off and free fell for about 5 seconds! it was really fun but not as thrilling as skydiving of course! haha Then we went walked back down to where we would get picked up and played more games! then finally left! No shower for three days was interesting! boy did we stink up that bus! :)
Meebunn-Bia!
Starting our first hike of the first day!... Here we go...

Starting the high ropes courses!!
On top of a beautiful mountain at sunrise!!
Our group on the top of the mountain!!
That picture of me and the tarp is where I slept for two nights!! Had to make it ourselves... a rope tied to two trees with a tarp over it!! NO DOORS!! LOTS OF POSSUMS!! SOOO SCARY!! The picture with me and the dirty pan is how we cleaned our dishes!... with mud!! it actually works really well what is weird!
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen! we were on summit and saw the sunset!!! AMAZING!! Mountains every where!
Above is our stoves that we had to cook with... It was very interesting. We made grilled cheese and tomato soup this night!

Dreamworld Theme Park! March 12

So we bought a ticket for 50 dollars to go to this theme park for the day. It was really fun and we got a really nice day so we were all pretty pumped. Weather in Lismore has not been so good... lots of rain... i guess there is a cyclone on the coast of Queensland that is creating all this rain for us... hopefully that stops ASAP! But at this theme park we had a beautiful day so it was worth it. There was also a waterpark in there with really fun slides! The rides at the theme park weren't so great... No Zoey and Zach I did not get sick... but that was because I didn't go on many rides :) haha roller coasters only and they were nothing like the wild thing. pretty weak which was fine with me! Well that was pretty much it for this day! Later mates!

Surfers Paradise! What an interesting weekend this was... March 6-7

Well this trip started out difficult even before it started... During the week before this weekend we were asking every Aussie with a car we knew if we could get a ride out to surfers so we wouldn't have to pay for the bus there and back. Just in case someone bailed on us we had back ups.  We knew we would probably need 2 drivers because there was 5 of us.  My room mate Brad said he probably would. A friend Sam said he would for sure but he could only take one. And a friend PJ said he would for sure but not until 3 pm on saturday because he had to work.  We thought we were sitting good until Friday. Brad said he didn't want to go anymore, then Friday night around 10 pm Sam said that he was really sick and had to go to the doctors tomorrow so he couldnt anymore... So all we had was this guy PJ who wouldn't be able to fit all 5 of us. So me and Jamie continued to search that night for another ride and we ran into our RA Wayde who said his gf and him were actually planning on going there in the morning, and he would ask her and let us know in the morning if we could get a ride.
At 8am I got a text from Jamie saying Wayde could take 3 of us at 9 am. Perfect I thought. Well Around 8:30 am Regina gets a text from PJ saying that he actually has to work until 8pm so he is out... The bus we had to take if needed was leaving at 11 am... So Regina decided she wasnt going anymore because she didnt want to pay for the bus so Gina, Jamie, Jenna and I had to figure this out. Jamie and I decided to go with Wayde at 9am and Gina and Jenna would go on the bus at 11 am. The bus costs 30 dollars because we missed the cheaper one for 15.
Well we all ended up getting there and so happy we did. Paradise Island is an awesome place. Its actually a real city with tall bulidings (which I actually havent seen in a month!) It was cloudy when we got there but we met the guys from st. cloud at the beach (they stayed the night on Friday as well) The waves were huge! A lot bigger than Byron Bay at least. The life guards were every where. We stayed there for a while then decided to go meet Jenna and Gina at our hostel to get ready for the night. We signed up for a pub crawl that night (mom and dad it is not as bad as it sounds) :) We got to go to 5 clubs/bars which all were really fun. One was The Bedroom which I LOVED because Sex and the City did one of their shows based of that club so I thought that was really cool! All in all it was a fun night!
Until we got home from the bars.... Us four girls got a hostel  room to ourselves so we did not have to worry about our stuff getting stolen... so we thought... We got home around 1 am and realized money was stolen from our wallets.. 20 from Ginas, 50 from Jamies, and 150 from mine :( So sucky...
We told the front desk the next morning and then talked to the manager... He said there was nothing really he could do since we didn't have travelers insurance...
We were on the ground floor, had two doors. the front one that locks automatically when you leave and the porch door that had 3 locks (a bolt lock, a chain, and one on the handle) When we checked them when we got back they were all three still locked. The only way they could have gotten in was with a key.  The manager said he would check to see if any keys were signed out that night. Obviously the theif is not going to sign out the key so nothing is going to happen their...
All in all we learned our lesson to lock our stuff in the drawers no matter if we have room mates we don't know or not. Kind of runied the weekend... but Paradise Island is still a really sweet city that i hope I can go see again.
Today the 9th is FINALLY PURE BLUE SKIES IN LISMORE!!! first in awhile!! and of course I have class all day until 3... oh well still going to go to the pool once i am done!
Sorry this is so long once again! I will put up more pictures from this weekend later!
      G'day mates :)

"When I signed up for dino week, no one said anything about monsoon season!" -Friends Rain rain.. March 1-4

G'day mates!
Well its been pretty crappy weather in Lismore. Lots and lots of rain. February is suppose to be the rainy season so I am hoping since March is starting this will be ending soon! 4 days straight of rain. Two days were off and on and two were non stop rain for 24 hours! Not too much to do when it is raining so my friends and I went and bought board games the other day to pass the rainy days. We got Trouble and Uno so we've had a blast with those the last couple days. They get really intense! longest lasting Uno game over two hours!!
Other than that I have just been trying to work out on my own (membership to the gym is 200 dollars here!!), doing some homework, and watching movies. Today looks more promising for some sun so hopefully I can get to the pool a little later. Going to talk to the travel agent today about going to Surfers Paradise this weekend!! really excited for that because there is a surfing competition and a pub crawl. Should be fun! Pray for some sun please!! Tonight we'll be going to the UNI bar since it's Thursday! No theme tonight so you wont be seeing any weird alien or sheet wearing pictures... ha
Hope everything is going good for you all!
Love,
The girl who needs some sun! :)
